Hermano Pedro Shelter
A home born of generosity, caring for 65 residents
This center is inspired by the values and charitable works of Saint Hermano Pedro. It was founded in 1988 by a group of women committed to the original projects of the Santo Hermano Pedro Social Works, who for years contributed time and resources to sustain the first homes founded by Fray Guillermo Bonilla.
Its facilities were built on land donated by Mrs. María Zelaya; the home was constructed and equipped thanks to the support of Guatemalan families, businesses and organizations.
The founders of the Shelter are now elderly and wish to ensure that its 65 residents are never left unprotected. For this reason they asked the Santo Hermano Pedro Social Works — in its mission for the poor, the sick and the abandoned — to receive the facilities of the Albergue Hermano Pedro foundation and take charge of its administration, direction and operations.
The Fraternity of Friars of the Social Works accepted the commitment and, since December 2021, the Albergue Hermano Pedro foundation is part of the Social Works family.
